INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF THE OCEAN PHONE CARD

The year 1998 was recognized as the International Year of Ocean by the decision of the United Nations General Assembly. Throughout the year of 1998, several international activities with the aim of attracting attention on seas were organized. EXPO’98 exhibition was one of those activities, organized in Lisbon, Portugal between 22nd May-30th September 1998. The basic objectives of EXPO’98 were;

·        To collect all the existing information about oceans,

·        To define the relationship between oceans and the atmosphere,

·        To evaluate the potential of oceans,

·        To ensure necessary atmosphere for exchanging information and experience,

·        To contribute to the new policies about oceans,

·        To combine the efforts of the other nations.
