Sinop Castle: the symbol of Sinop, was thought to be built in the last quarter of VII. century BC. by the immigrants who came from Milet and established a colony in Sinop.

Kızkalesi: situated 60 km. to Mersin, is 800-1000 m. away from the remains of the antique city Corcyus and lies in the Mediterranian Sea. The castle, established to prevent attacks from the sea, contains the remains of a church.

Hoşap Castle: in Gürpinar, Van, was built during the 16th century by Mahmudi Clan leader Süleyman Bey. It contains two mosques, three baths, fountains and dungeons.

Alanya Castle: first built by Roman pirates, was rebuilt by Alaeddin Keykubat in 1225. In the epitaph of the castle, it is said to be built by Ebu Ali, son of Kettani Reha from Halepo.

Boyabat Castle: was built in harmony with the natural structure of the rocks in the norh-west of Boyabat, Sinop. Although its construction date is not exactly known, it is thought that it was used between Late Roman Period and Ottoman Period.

Bakraş Cattle: was situated on the steep hill at the intersecting point of two deep valleys on the skirts of Kızıldağ. Its origin dates back to Hellenic period. The castle, came under the rule of Ottomans in 1516, was used until recently.

Anamur Castle: lies in Bozdoğan Village, about 6 km. to the east of Anamur, is made up of three parts. Inner court in the east, outer castle in the west and inner castle in the south   It has 39 towers, cisterns, a mosque and a bath. It is surrounded by 10 meter-wide-trench for the purpose of defense.

Kozan Castle: 36 km. away from ancient Anavarza, in Kozan. Adana, is an Assyrian structure, although it has the characteristic ot the Middle Ages.The castle, built in two parts, connected by a rampart, has 44 towers.

Firan Castle: was built on the caves, carved in a steep rock in Ermenek, Karaman. Its construction date is not exactly known. However difficult it was to capture it due to its natural position, it was captured by the Turks in 1258.

Kastabala-Bodrumkale: Bodrumkale from Middle Ages rises on a rock protrusion which dominates the small plain between Kesmeburun and Bahçeköy, about 15 km. to the north of Osmaniye. The ruins of the antique city which was once located there can still be seen today around the castle.

Simena (Kaleköy): The castle of Simena was used during the Middle Ages. Inside the castle is a small natural theatre carved into the rock. This is the smallest of the theatres among the cities of Lycia. West of the theatre there are rock tombs here and there.

Pişmiş Castle: in the ancient Midas City, gives the impression of a mediaeval castle. With its lofty position, dense row of rocks along the edge above, acting as fortress walls, it is the most embattled one among the Phrygian castles.
