Invention of many devices, that are considered indispensable and facilitate our daily lives, fell late 1800s. One of those inventions is telephone which brings distant places within easy reach…Telephone, the invention of which aroused great interest and which was regarded as a luxury at that time, has now become an inevitable need. Telephone, in use more than a century has reached the present day by undergoing many changes in paralel to various developments. These changes have occured in every field from the telephone exchanges to telephone sets. This apparatus serving the purpose of transmitting the human voice by electric current through wires was used manually for a long time. The preliminary telephones consisted of a body and two component parts connected to it, one of which functioning as a microphone/mouthpiece and the other as a receptor. They were operated manually by turning a handle installed in the right side of the body, thus reaching the operator through magneto for having the required number connected. In former times, there used to be batery by every telephone set to supply power. Of those telephones which were formerly of desk type and later wall mounted, some had two receptors along with one microphone, thus enabling two persons to hear simultaneously. The next stage was the production of telephones combining the microphone and the receptor in one piece,  namely receiver. Featuring quite a complex structure in appearance, those telephones were also richly ornamented and large in size. Such complex apperarance has gradually changed to a plain one in line with the developments recorded in the telephone systems. A great stride was achieved in telephony with the introduction of electronic exchanges. Electronic push-button “diavox” telephone brought into use in 1978 was not so different from those of today in appearance, and the telephone sets have gradually taken their present shape in paralel rapid developments experienced in recent years.
