5 JUNE WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY PHONE CARD

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Another resolution, adopted by the General Assembly the same day, led to the creation of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). World Environment Day, held annually on the 5^th of June, is a multi-media event which inspires thousands of journalists to write reports enthusiastically or critically on the environment; it is also an intellectual event for those who organize and participate in seminars, round-table meetings and symposia. In many countries, this annual event is used to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and to enhance political attention and action. World Environment Day is celebrated in many ways, including street rallies, bicycle parades, green concerts, essay and poster competitions in schools, tree planting, recycling efforts and clean-up campaigns.
